Many people always assume that politicians start their careers with politics but that is not the case as most of them struggle before becoming who they are today.
Many politicians from the western region engaged in various activities before venturing into politics. Below are some of the early careers of famous western Politicians.
1. Millie Odhiambo
The Mbita Constituency Member of Parliament is a graduate of the University of Nairobi School of Law. She worked as a lawyer and as a women and children rights activist before venturing into politics.
2. Sospeter Ojaamong
He has been the Personal Assistant to Hon. Raila Odinga, Member of Parliament for Amagoro Constituency, Assistant Minister of Labor before becoming the Governor of Busia County.
Prior to joining politics, he worked as the Deputy Principal at Moding Secondary School. He also served as the Administrative assistant of Otieno Kajwang and Co.Advocates.
3. Boni Khalwale
The former Kakamega Senator graduated from the University of Nairobi with a degree in Medicine. He served as a Doctor in both Kakamega and Nairobi before venturing into politics.
4. Anyang Nyong'o
The Kisumu County Governor took teaching positions at the University of Nairobi where he was a professor of Political Science and a visiting Professor in Universities in Mexico and Adis Ababa.
5. Ababu Namwamba
He trained as a lawyer in Nairobi and Washington DC in the United States. Before his election to Parliament, he served as a lawyer and was the Chief Counsel at the Chambers of Justice, a public interest trust he found in 2002 and ran alongside his law firm.
