Many people assume that many politicians started their careers in politics but that is not the case as many politicians go through the struggle before becoming who they are today. Many politicians from the Coastal region engaged in various activities before venturing into politics. Below are some of the early careers of popular Western politicians.
1. Amason Kingi
Amason Kingi is a Kenyan politician who was born in Malindi in 1974. He belongs to the Orange Democratic Movement and was elected to represent the Magarini constituency in the National Assembly of Kenya since the Kenyan Parliamentary elections 2007 until 2013 when he was sworn in as the first Governor for Kilifi County. He worked with the Constitutional Review Commission as a coordinator for Malindi District until his election as a Member of Parliament for Magarini in Malindi District. He has been also a private practitioner of Law in Mombasa.
2. Hassan Omar
The former Mombasa County Senator worked in the private sector in the field of publishing and communications. He briefly served in the Kenya Armed Forces and was the Secretary General of the East Africa Youth Council (EAYCO) Kenya chapter before venturing into politics.
3. Mohammed Ali
Mohammed Ali is currently the Member of Parliament of Nyali Constituency. He worked at KTN as a journalist and was famously known for his 'Jicho Pevu' show before he ventured into politics.
4. Najib Balala
He is a Kenyan politician and the current Cabinet Secretary for Tourism and the former MP for Muita Constituency. Prior to venturing into politics, Najib Balala was in the private sector in tourism business and eventually joined a family tea/coffee trade business. He also served as the Secretary of the Swahili Cultural Center and the Chairman of the Coast Tourist Association.
5. Khatib Mwashetani
Khatib Mwashetani is a Kenyan member of Parliament representing Lunga Lunga Constituency in Kwale County. Before venturing into politics he served as the Director of Manizle Limited.
