Kisii county residents have been advised that Cancer is curable once it is detected in its early stages.
Speaking to the press in Kisii town on Monday, the founder of African Arts Promotion Network Elkanah Ong'esa in partnership with Ministry of health noted that most people have succumbed to the disease since they are not going for early checks ups.
“We are calling upon Kisii residents to take advantage of the free Cancer screenings in most health facilities in the country so that we can create awareness of this disease,” said Ong'esa.
Hence, he said that cancer is easily preventable and curable if detected early.
“Its early detection and treatment do not require sophisticated facilities and equipment or highly specialised staff,” Ong’esa said.
County health executive Sarah Omache also said the county government is focused on reducing cases of cancer and other diseases in the county by creating awareness.
“We need to step up efforts to create massive awareness so that those who turn positive are given early treatment,” said Omache.
