One person died on spot following a road accident involving a motorbike and a matatu in Nyakongo, Manga Nyamira County along Kisii - Nyamira road on Saturday night.

According to the area police boss James Musimi, the speeding matatu hit the motorbike rider from behind killing the rider on spot.

Musimi said the motorbike was trapped under the matatu.

“The deceased Polycarp Mainga died on spot after his motorbike was hit by the speeding passenger matatu. Motorists should be more cautious on the road due to its sharp corners to curb road accidents,” Musimi said.

The police boss said the body of the deceased was taken to Nyamira County Referral Hospital mortuary.
