The East Africa entertainment industry is mourning following the death of Ugandan musician Moses Ssekibogo, alias Mowzey Radio of the Goodlyfe Crew.
Ugandan media reported that an events promoter, Balaam Barugahara, confirmed the death of Radio, saying he died on Thursday February 1, at around 6 am.
Radio who has been working with Weasel, died at Case Hospital in Kampala where he had been admitted following injuries sustained after allegedly being beaten during a fight at De Bar, a local hang-out joint in Entebbe town, last week.
"The management of Case Hospital regret to announce the passing of Moses Ssekibogo alias Moze Radio today 1st February 2018 at 6:00 am," read part of the statement issued by Case Hospital.
President Yoweri Museveni had contributed USh30 million towards his treatment after being in coma.
“The management of Case Hospital acknowledges the payment of UGX 30,000,000 received from H.E The President of the Republic of Uganda @KagutaMuseveni. We are grateful for this generous deed of contributing to hospital bills for the amazingly talented Ugandan vocalist Radio,” read part of the statement from Case Hospital, obtained by the Daily Monitor.
Museveni has since sent his condolence message, terming the late music star as a talented young man.
"I have been told about the untimely death of musician Moses Ssekibogo aka Mowzey Radio. I had only recently made a financial contribution towards his treatment and hoped he would get better. He was a talented young person with a great future ahead of him. May he rest in peace," Museveni said in a statement seen by Hivisasa.
Kenyans on social media have joined the rest of East African entertainment fans in sending condolence messages to family and friends of the deceased.
Last week, Ugandan police said they had arrested five suspects linked to the beating of Radio, whose music under Goodlyfe Crew has been a hit, including in Kenyan TV and radio stations.
