We have always been led to believe that retaining our youthful looks requires daily work and a whole battery of anti-aging products, and while there is some truth to this, there are also some quick and easy hacks that can take years off your appearance in an instant.
Polish those pearly whites
Our teeth become stained and more yellow as we get older, but going for professional teeth whitening can be expensive. Wet your toothbrush, dip it in some bicarbonate of soda and then brush your teeth as you would with toothpaste. The bicarb will remove superficial stains and make your teeth a few shades whiter.
Add volume to your hair
Ageing can take its toll on our hair and it can become flat. An easy way to get more volume is to apply a good-quality mousse to damp hair after you have washed it and then to flip your head forwards and dry your hair from underneath. This will help to make your hair look fuller and healthier.
Treat your tootsies
Like hands, our feet can be very revealing when it comes to our age they work hard for us, after all. Make your feet look more youthful by giving them a soak, scrubbing them with a pumice stone, applying a nourishing lotion and giving yourself a pretty pedicure.
Change your liner
When it comes to eyeliner, most of us tend to stick to basic black, as it’s what we are comfortable with. Instead, switch to a dark blue or navy eyeliner, as this will make your eyes, which tend to become more yellow as we age, appear whiter and brighter.
Switch up your scent
Most people have one or two signature fragrances that they wear throughout the year, but if you want to appear younger, it might be time to expand your repertoire. Scientifically, people who wear citrus-based scents, particularly ones containing grapefruit, are perceived to be up to 10 years younger.
Change your parting
Always wear your hair parted to one side? That side is more exposed to the sun and, as such, goes grey more quickly. To prevent this, embrace change and switch up your hair partying regularly and use a protective spray on your hair to prevent UV damage.
