With options ranging from bringing them into a store to shipping them to a company for free, there are plenty of recycling methods for you to choose from and stick with.

Take It to Origins

Drop your empty containers from any brand off at an Origins counter, and the company will recycle it for you. The company is eco-friendly, uses recycled material to create its own containers, and is committed to reducing landfill waste.

Find Out Which Items You Can Recycle Locally

Larger items like shampoo bottles are able to be recycled locally. When you're done with a bottle of shampoo, rinse and dry the container. Then flip the bottle upside down and look for the recycling symbol and a number. If you see a one or a two (meaning the most common kinds of plastic containers), you can recycle it with the rest of your plastic waste.

Send Products to Terra cycle

Once you've collected and cleaned out all of your empty beauty containers, Terra cycle will recycle the packaging for you. After signing up online, ship the products for free by printing the label provided. You can also receive points for the amount of packaging you send (two points per 10 pounds), which can be redeemed for a donation to a charity or school.

Buy Products That Are Easily Recycled

When you're shopping, look out for products with a one or a two on the bottom in the recycling symbol and choose to purchase them over non-recyclable items. Support brands that make eco-friendly products. By doing this, we can hope that it will send a message to the beauty industry and that more companies will choose to package their products in a more sustainable way.
