President Uhuru Kenyatta has urged the young generation to maintain peace during the elections period.
While addressing crowds in Nairobi, the president said life must remain normal to residents before and after the election and that nobody should become another's enemy due to differences in politics.
He urged the youths to go to their miraa zones and eat as before and reached out to those with girlfriends to show even more love by taking them out for a drink.
"Nyinyi mrudi maisha yenu ya kawaida. Vijana vile mnakutana mnakula miraa yenu kuleni hapo hapo mkiongea mambo yenu. Akina mama wale ambao wanatembeleana kunywa chai mwende mkunywe chai na muongee mambo ya mtaa na watoto wenu. Yule ambaye ako na dem aende ampeleke out wakunywe soda. Hakuna haja ya kuumizana," he said.
This loosely translates to:
"You should go back to your normal lives. For the youths, meet and eat your miraa as you always do while talking your issues. For women who visit each other for a cup of tea, go do the same and talk about your issues and those of your children. For those with girlfriends, take them out and share some drinks. There is no need for harming each other."
