Making the announcement, county chief health officer, Samuel Mwaura, has said that the ban also includes eating in weddings and funeral ceremonies.

Mwaura said that a total of 76 cumulative cases have so far been reported in the county since last week.

Mwaura urged the members of public to eat in hotels that have properly been licensed and have sanitary facilities.

As the schools reopen today, public health officials say they will visit all schools to sensitize pupils on the cholera outbreak and control measures.

The teachers and pupils will be educated on how to identify cholera and what to do in case they come across one with symptoms.

The sanitation situations in all schools will be assessed and all measures will be taken to avoid spread in schools.

The health officials have pledged to disinfect toilets in schools and provide hand washing facilities with disinfectants especially in the affected areas to keep the spread at bay.
