Sports Cabinet Secretary Rashid Echesa has warned private developers who are allegedly occupying land belonging to the Moi Sports Center Kasarani Stadium.
Speaking when made an impromptu visit to the sports center Thursday, the CS announced that the government will not hesitate to reclaim the land.
"We are aware that some people have invaded the stadium's land and we are not going to condone that. The government will reclaim all the land the stadium has lost to grabbers," he said.
A portion of the land has been put under residential house construction with the remainder being used for farming, a move Echesa has condemned, saying that he will work in collaboration with area police to stop further invasion.
The CS, who also supervised the ongoing renovations at the Stadium, observed that the uplift is on the right channel and is nearing completion.
The renovation is aimed at bettering the sitting areas, parking and changing rooms, a process he said should be complete within the next one month.
"We have engaged the contractor and the construction Chair and they have assured me that the renovations will be done in one month," added Echesa.
The uplift is also aimed at improving the stadium's general appearance.
