The bill providing a procedure for selecting the panel to vet future IEBC commissioners will be tabled in parliament on Wednesday.
The bill proposes in part that the majority coalition and the minority coalition nominate two members for vetting IEBC future commissioners.
Majority leader, Aden Duale has registered an opposition to the proposition that either side of the political divide nominates equal number to the panel.
While addressing a meeting of the Kenya editors' guild and the speaker of the national assembly this morning, Duale said such a provision would kill the independence of the commission as prescribed in the constitution.
The leader of majority also said he will vehemently oppose any agreement reached by the president and the opposition leader in the current IEBC standoff if it is reached without the involvement of parliament.
The chair of the Kenya Editors' Guild, Linus Kaikai on his part called on the speaker Justin Muturi to moderate fairly at this challenging time when the country is politically charged and sharply divided along tribal lines.
