The Naivasha youths Initiative argued that majority of the old people do not understand what the migration was about, and were only being warned that they had to migrate before the end of the year.

Speaking to our reporter, Byron Geodesaise, a youth leader cited that they had been approached by many aged people seeking to understand the process.

“We are appealing to the government to at least conduct public ‘barazas’ or even have skits and road shows like they are doing in the major towns. In reality, Kenyans do not really understand the importance of shifting to the digital access,” he added

His views were echoed by Kevin Muthiani, who cited that the youths in the area were ready to help in the process.

“The Ministry of Information has not had any initiative seeking to help the masses in the rural areas. This is unfair, we can help in educating those who are not aware, if only the government comes up with a good plan,” he added

He noted that the government should buy advertising space in local FM stations, which reached out to people more in order to carry out the lessons.

“The mass media should approach experts and give them airtime to discuss and expound more on the migration. The Ministry should also take advantage of the social media to advice people on the whole process,” he added.
