Nyamira County minister for Education and ICT Jones Omwenga has called for an overhaul of Nyansabakwa school attire to create uniformity and impartiality to all students.
Omwenga said it was a demoralising gesture that a section of students wore shorts while others were in trousers, adding that schools must ensure that there is equality and non discrimination in order to provided a conducive learning environment for all.
"I propose that the school's boards of management consider to outline a uniform attire for all students so that no one feels left out or discriminated in that way. I feel it is discriminatory when a section of students are in shorts while others are in long trousers," he said.
Omwenga, who has also shown interest the North Mugirango constituency seat was addressing students of Nyansabakwa school whose Simba dormitory was razed down by fire suspected to have started from an electric fault.
