Two Education Ministry officials were on friday nabbed by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) officers after they (ministry officials) solicited for a bribe from a businessman.
Director for quality assurance William Osewe and county clerical officer Noroa Cherono were arrested after demanding a Sh15 000 from the businessman in order to register their school in Narok South.
According to the commission’s South Rift Deputy Director Gilbert Lukhoba, the arrest came immediately after the duo received the bribe that had been marked by the EACC officers.
“Our officers travelled to Narok for the operation and arrested the officers. EACC officers laid a trap following numerous complaints from locals,” he said.
The two were released on a Sh100 000 cash bail after they recorded statements at the Ololulunga Police Station and will later be arraigned at the Kericho Anti-Corruption Court on 29th this November.
