[Photo/nation.co.ke]A High Court has ordered the Ministry of Education to pay 150 million to a supplier of school equipment for irregularly terminating a contract.Vulcan Lab Equipment Limited had been contracted by the ministry to supply lab equipment and teaching aids. The company supplied goods worth 94 million shillings to the ministry but it declined to receive them because the contract was being probed by the Ethics and Anti-corruption Commission.A department within the ministry failed to provide storage forcing the company to look for alternative storage.Judge Ongudi awarded Vulcan sh94,279,202 for the value of the first delivery of goods, 50 million shillings for not honouring the contract, and 5 million shillings for insurance.
