Lari Sub County Education Officer Stephen Kitungu has applauded last year’s Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) candidates in the area for posting good results.

Speaking during a ceremony where 12 pupils benefited from Equity’s Wings to fly initiative yesterday, the education officer said that the sub county recorded an improvement in last year’s KCPE.

He said that the sub county recorded a minis core of 251 compared to 245 recorded in 2013.

“We are happy that our candidates recorded a high improvement in last year’s KCPE,” said Kitungu.

The education officer however asked students to work extra hard in order to get good grades.

He urged the county government to support education programmes being carried out in the sub county.

Kitungu said that education is important and it should be the focus of every government, parent and students.

Speaking at the event, area MP Mburu Kahangara pledged to sponsor candidates who scored 400 and above marks. He stated that there are adequate funds under the Mburu kahangara Education kitty.

“I am going to sponsor candidates who scored high marks in last year’s KCPE”, said the MP.

Kahangara further asked needy students to apply for bursaries from the constituency kitty.

He said that bursaries will help needy but bright students to continue with their studies.

The MP lauded the Wings to fly saying that it has helped many needy students to access education.

The lawmaker called on the government to take education matters seriously.
