A couple in Nakuru pulled their children out of school claiming that education diverts their focus from God.
Solomon Orwa and his wife, Eunice Akoth denied their four children education and claimed their religion does not allow education.
The move however irked their neighbours at Lake View estate forcing them to report the couple.
“We received the information from village elders and neighbours that the children have never attended school and were locked inside their house every day where they were taught the Bible,” said George Ng’ang’a, the area chief said.
The parents, however, stayed put that education was denying their children spiritual nourishment.
“Education is not included in religion. I stopped my children from going to school because it diverted their focus from God,” she said.
The two will be charged accordingly.
