An education officer in Kiambu County has said boarding schools are among the places where homosexual ideas could be shared and developed into a habit by both pupils and students.
Speaking from his office in Kiambu on Thursday, Kiambu Sub-County education officer James Koigi, has therefore told boarding schools administrators to monitor their students and pupils’ activities. This will, according to him, help check the possibility of homosexuality and take appropriate action if detected.
The officer said both the pupils and students who are exposed to the vice through the media and internet at home, could introduce the ideas to their colleagues at school without the knowledge of teachers and the administrators.
Should homosexuality be introduced to a young mind at primary and secondary school, he said, it would be difficult to stop it later in life.
Koigi also advised parents not to put their teenage sons and daughters to sleep in the same rooms at home, as this has led to cases of incest.
“It is the responsibility of teachers and parents to bring up morally upright and law abiding citizens,” said Koigi.
He hailed Uganda’s President Yoweri Museveni, for signing the Anti-homosexuality Bill into law, saying being gay was against African morals and Christianity.
