According to Daily Nation, the political outfit has become weaker following the new development despite its aspirant having put up a spirited fight to ensure that they win as many votes as possible.
The Mandera South Parliamentary seat has been bagged by Ali Adan Haji of Jubilee Party. Adan defeated Hassan Mohamed Issack of EFP in a toughest contest that attracted several candidates.
EFP is a political outfit that was founded by a section of elders. The political group has been endorsing different candidates based on a negotiated democracy plan.
This comes after Governor Ali Roba and other leaders from North Eastern opposed the endorsement of the religious leaders. In Mandera North Constituency, Bashir Abdullahi Sheikh of Jubilee was declared the winners after garnering 24,999 votes against Abdi Mohamed Ibrahim 14,363 votes, who was contesting on EFP party ticket.
Governor Roba stands a better chance of retaining his seat since he is currently leading with 67,470 votes compared to Hassan Noor Hassan’s 57,907 votes.
