Egerton university on Tuesday issued a notice to all students taking engineering courses to vacate the University premises.
The notice signed by Deputy Registrar Academic Affairs informed the students that the university had decided to close the engineering departments affected by the current stand-off between the varsity and Engineering Board of Kenya (EBK).
“The senate has deliberated and decided that all the students undertaking engineering programmes to vacate the university by 2.30pm until further notice," reads part of the notice.
The programmes which the board failed to accredit includes; Instrumentation and Control Engineering (ICEN), Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEEN) and Industrial and Energy Engineering (IEEN).
The students who were on a go-slow since Thursday last week blamed the university management board for the slow process in solving the matter.
However, a couple of days ago the university had acknowledged the impasse and promised to fast-track registration process.
“The university is in the process of fast tracking the process but students have insisted that they will not attend classes until their grievances are addressed," the notice reads.
