Egerton University Nakuru Town Campus students will take part in a voluntary cancer screening and HIV and Aids testing exercise starting from today.
The dean of students at the campus Absalom Makinda says the exercise that is usually carried out every semester.
“The campaign is aimed at creating and promoting health awareness and responsibility among the students community. Previous exercises have received good responses among the students, a sign that the awareness campaign was effective,” he said.
Makinda added that the students comprise of a sensitive age group that ought to be counselled and motivated to manage dangerous diseases.
“We are creating awareness among the students community about the Aids prevalence among other preventable diseases like cancer. Through screening and testing, the students become more aware and responsible over dangerous ailments,” Makinda noted.
The two day exercise will be carried out by the Nakuru Hospice (Cancer screening) and The Kenya Red Cross Society of Kenya (VCT).
