A 19-year-old Egerton University Student has been crowned Miss Kibera 2016.

Frisco Chepkemboi beat other eleven models in the just-concluded Mr/Miss Kibera contest held on Saturday at Kamukunji grounds.

Chepkemboi was shocked to hear her name called by Judge Kepha Ngito.

The calm lady shade tears as she received her crown from outgoing Miss Kibera Zitah Jempkemboi.

Ms Jempkemboi had consistently lifted the tittle for the last seven years.

In her speech prior the crowning, the first year Forensic Investigation student said if elected Miss Kibera, she will work with both governmental and nongovernmental institutions to boost peace in Kibera.

"I have been born and raised in Kibera, most of the times I have come across news or witnessed fellow youth beaten or shot dead due to crime," she said.

"It pains me seing how a future has been cut short due to unemployment. If elected Miss Kibera, I will work with both governmental and non governmental organizations to create employment for youth and this will boost security. An Idle mind is a devil’s workshop so we better get something for the youths to do."

Mr Kibera tittle was lifted by Hussein Muzafar. Muzafar’s victory was well received as many youths called him a courageous man.
