Professor Mwonya said university students must be constructive leaders rather than destructive and that’s when everyone in the society would want to emulate them.

“University institutions are institutions of higher learning. Therefore students should be well behaved and disciplined because the society looks to them as role model. But when they become indiscipline, they portray this institutions in a bad light,” she said.

The Vice Chancellor was speaking on Wednesday at the University’s Nakuru Town Campus during inauguration of the students’ leaders.

She called upon the students’ leadership and the university staff to work together in order to succeed.

At the same time, the professor said the management is in the process of streamlining its services in order to enhance efficient service delivery to students such as issuance of transcripts.

Elisha Wera Nyakune was sworn in as Student Union of Egerton University SUEU, chairman for a period of one year.

During the inauguration, the students complained long delays in issuance of transcripts.

They said this delay has been locking many students out of opportunities such as jobs and bursaries.
