Egerton University will hold its 14th Annual Gender Awareness Day celebrations on October 17.
The event will take place at the university’s main campus in Njoro.
According to the director of the University’s Institute of Gender and Women development Studies Dr Rose Odhiambo, this year’s celebrations theme is ‘Challenges and achievements in the implementation of the millennium development goals for women and girls’.
Dr Odhiambo, in a circular, said the annual fete aims at reaching out to all stakeholders on women and gender affairs in the country to reflect on gender, development awareness and challenge issues.
“The gender awareness day also gives an opportunity for interactions, information sharing, bonding and networking among stakeholders,” she added.
The guest of honour during the event that will include the institute’s partners, schools, women organizations, children homes, students and university staff and members of the public, will be Kajiado East Constituency legislator Peris Tobiko.
Recently, the institute initiated a scholarship programme to benefit bright female students from poor backgrounds.
