Royal Media’s Egesa Fm celebrated its 10th birthday in style on Saturday night at Winds Park Hotel in a ceremony that attracted hundreds of its audience across Gusii land.

The Nairobi-based media station was established in 2006 and has taken ground as one of the most adored local station among the Abagusii community alongside KBC’s Minto Fm and Sayare radio.

The event also brought together renowned musicians from the region among them Kirwanda Junior Band, Sungusia Boy’s band from Nyamira and Bomachoge Kings from Kisii county.

The station’s head Nancy Omweri popularly known as Nana seize the opportunity to laud members of the Gusii community for ‘remarkable’ support throughout the decade.

“I want to take this opportunity to thank all of you for this remarkable support throughout the ten years," said Omweri.

"You’ve been amazing through phone-ins, messages and even advertising with us,” Omweri said.

“As a media station, we will always execute our obligations of informing, educating and entertaining our audience and above all, we will always give back to the society through social-economic activities in the name of charity giving,” she added.

The event attracted top politicians from the region with Nyamira Women Representative Alice Chae and Borabu MP Ben Momanyi leading a host of other aspirants from Nyamira and Kisii Counties.

The celebrations are set to continue throughout Sunday and will culminate at Gusii stadium on Monday in a grand ceremony expected to be attended by various opinion shapers from Gusii region.
