An Egypt Air Flight 804 has disappeared from the radar.
The flight was headed to Paris from Cairo. Egypt Air says the flight had 56 passengers and 10 crew on board.
The nationalities that were on board were as follows: 15 French, 30 Egyptian, 1 British, 1 Belgian, 2 Iraqis, 1 Kuwaiti, 1 Saudi, 1 Sudanese, 1 Chadian, 1 Portuguese, 1 Algerian, and 1 Canadian. This is information according to the EgyptAir Twitter updates.
“An official source at Egypt Air stated that Flight MS804, which departed Paris at 23:09 (CEST), heading to Cairo has disappeared from radar,” the airline said on its official Twitter account.
The airline went on to further explain that the airplane had been flying at an altitude of 37, 000 feet shortly after it disappeared in the Egyptian airspace.
“They did not radio for help or lose altitude. They just vanished,” said Ehab Mohy el-Deen, the head of Egypt’s air navigation authority.
El-Deen said that they had been notified by Greek air traffic controllers that their counterparts had lost contact with the plane. He, however, stated that it was too early to speculate what exactly happened to the plane.
