ODM Executive Director Oduor Ong'wen in a press statement said the eight will be required to shed light on how and why the violence that marred the event in Homa Bay Stadium erupted.

"We are going to summon those who caused chaos in the Homa Bay rally and punish them,” Ong’wen said in the Sunday statement after the event.

During the rally, Homa Bay Town MP Peter Kaluma and his closest challenger in the 2017 polls Washington Ogaga exchanged blows at the main dais.

It all began when supporters of the two sung songs discrediting either of the politicians.

The rally had been convened as part of celebrations to mark two years since former Homa Bay Senator Otieno Kajwang' died.
