Thirdway Alliance party leader Ekuru Aukot has commented on what President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga's handshake should aim at solving in the country.
According to Aukot, the handshake should translate into tangible results by solving the problems Kenyans face in their daily lives.
In a tweet on Wednesday, Aukot further remarked that the problems Kenyans face is completely unrelated to the handshake as they (problems) require a lot of input to fix.
"The handshake should translate into tangible results for the myriad of problems Kenyans undergo daily. To shake hands is one thing; to fix challenges of Kenyans is another thing. Those problems can't simplistically be fixed by a handshake," reiterated Aukot in the tweet.
Aukot has also revealed the start date for Thirdway Alliance's campaign to reduce the number of legislators in the country.
"The #ReduceParliament and #PunguzaMizigo campaign kicks off this Saturday. More details to follow from our SG @fokango and CEO @Ukhozi," added Aukot.
In his proposal, the self proclaimed opposition leader wants the number of legislators reduced from the current 349 to 100 while on the other hand increasing the number of Senators from 67 to 94.
Aukot wants this achieved by abolishing the current constituencies and in the process reducing the amount of money used to run Parliament annually from Kshs 32 billion to Ksh5 billion.
