Thirdway Alliance leader Ekuru Aukot has called on the church not to use the platform for campaigns.

According to Aukot, the church is a big let down for the country’s democracy.

Speaking on Sunday, Aukot said that the clergy men had allowed politicians to use church podiums as avenues for posturing and threatening their opponents.

"This is wrong and must stop," Aukot said during an interview on NTV, adding church leaders must lead by preaching peace and cohesion.

"How will Kenyans view a church that allows politicians boiling with anger to utter threats to [opponents and even] independent institutions?"

He said the church should promote a peaceful democracy.

Jubilee and NASA leaders attended services in different churches and made their stand ahead of the repeat of the presidential election.
