An elderly couple was on Monday evening found murdered and their bodies dumped in a pit latrine in Mtwapa, Kilifi County.Kilifi OCPD Alexander Makau who confirmed the incident said the bodies of Mohideen Abdullah, 74, and his wife Rukiya Ghordabaksh, 72, were dumped in the pit latrine by unknown assailants.Makau said the deceased’s caretaker, whose whereabouts are unknown, is their main suspect as investigations into the incident continue.The OCPD said they suspect that the farm caretaker might have killed the elderly couple and dumped their bodies in the latrine.“We are now pursuing the caretaker. The motive of the killings is unclear as per now,” said the OCPD.Abdullah’s niece Fatma Mohideen said her uncle who is a dairy farmer had been reported missing after his customers complained that he had not delivered milk to them for two days.The relatives then contacted the caretaker on Monday evening who told them that Mr Abdullah and his wife had gone out.They, however, decided to go to Abdullahi’s house in Mtepeni the same evening to look for their uncle.Ms Mohideen said they called the area police who conducted a search at the home and found the bodies dumped in the latrine.“The elderly man usually does not go out in the evening and when we decided to come to the house that evening we found the deceased’s car abandoned outside the house and the caretaker was nowhere to be seen,” said Mohideen.“We conducted a search in the house and found that it had been ransacked and all his electronic items taken,” she added, as quoted by the Nation.
