The activity kicked off on Wednesday in some areas of Matungulu and Tala locations.

Speaking in Kangundo town on Wednesday Alex Nzioki, an officer appointed by the area Member of Parliament to oversee the project, said that the exercise will be free and fair.

Nzioki has said that the exercise is aimed at helping the poor elderly men and women above 65 years.

He further insisted that more consideration will be given to the old men and women who have no relative to look after them.

“We had asked the elderly in Matungulu and Tala locations to avail themselves during the exercise. For one to benefit from the funds he must be above 65 years and living in deplorable conditions,” said Nzioki.

According to the officer already they have registered 142 elderly from Matungulu and 102 from Tala.

Kangundo Sub-County fund allocation is aimed to benefit at least 580 elderly where each will be receiving Sh2000 per month.

The exercise is set to continue today (Thursday) from 8am in Matungulu North Ward and Chanzavi where the registration will be taking place at Kwa Mwaura Chiefs camp.
