A 70-year-old man has been gored to death by a buffalo in Kongoni area of Naivasha while on his way home.
The victim, who was in the company of a colleague, was attacked between Kongoni and Moi Ndabi area during the Monday morning incident, raising fears as cases of human-wildlife conflict in the area escalate.
A witness Peter Mwaura said the buffaloes had strayed from one of the game ranches in the area in search of pastures.
“The buffalo was hiding in some bushes and attacked the man who was walking presumably to his place, killing him on the spot,” he said.
He decried the high number of wild animals roaming in the area terming them as a threat to residents and mainly to school going children.
According to the eye witness, they have in the past raised concern over the high number of wild animals in this area but KWS officers have failed to act.
