An elderly man was on Thursday arraigned before a Kiambu court charged with bestiality after he was allegedly caught with a neighbour’s goat.
Albert Ngugi appeared before Kiambu Principal Magistrate Diana Mochache for the act which he allegedly committed on May 7, in Kirigiti area, Kiambu County. Ngugi denied having committed the offence.
Ms Rachel Mwangi, the goat’s owner, said on that day at around 5pm, when coming from her farm, she caught Ngugi red handed with her goat.
She said she immediately went to the area chief Mr John Ikinya and reported the matter. The chief said he accompanied the woman immediately adding they found the suspect trying to escape with a bag of clothes.
He was arrested and escorted to Kiambu Police Station.
The magistrate ordered for a veterinary examination report.
Ngugi pleaded that he was a father of two adding his family depended on him for a living.
He was released on a cash bail of Sh100,000 until May 22 when the case will be heard.
