Elderly people aged 70 years who are receiving monthly stipend from the government have called for easy payment methods to save time and movement.
The beneficiaries speaking in Nakuru on Monday, said they are forced to queue for long time to receive the payment.
“The payment exercise should be done using mobile phones or have it done at the chief’s camps in the villages to save time and transport costs,” said Margaret Njeri, one of the beneficiaries.
John Kamau said some elderly people have locomotion problems and the government should consider paying them using their mobile phones.
“Some of us have locomotion problems. Standing for a long time queuing long lines to receive payment at banks will make us collapse. We are appealing to the government to ensure the payment method is done faster,” he said.
They were speaking on Monday outside Kenya commercial Bank branch Nakuru where they were receiving the monthly stipend.
