Gatundu South elderly and vulnerable children will now receive state funds in their mobile phones, starting next month.

Speaking to press and beneficiaries in Gatundu town on Wednesday Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) Gatundu town branch manager, Martin Kariuki, said the move will make sure that the money reaches the beneficiaries.

"KCB is ready to work closely with the government to ensure that the disabled and the elderly live a presentable life,” said Kariuki.

KCB won the funds issuance contract after post bank’s contract ended last year.

“We are ready to change the livelihood of disabled and the elderly in Kenya through an easy money transfer provision,” notes Kariuki.

The manager added that they have partnered with Safaricom to ensure that the registered individuals receive the money on their mobile phones.

He was speaking during the final registration process of state funds beneficiary in Gatundu. More than 250 elderly people in the area will benefit in the programme.

Kariuki further said that the bank will, set a special programme, offer cheap loans to People living With Disability.

“We have set aside a special cheap loan program for the less fortunate in the society. The programme will help the skilled to start businesses that will transform their lives,” added Kariuki.

Beneficiaries lauded the government for making a step to rescue their lives.
