Addressing reporters in his office in Athi River on Thursday, Mavoko sub-county assistant commissioner Phylip Lemalasia told beneficiaries of the cash transfer fund to get ready for its automation.

"This is a digital government, there are intentions to automate the cash transfer programme for efficiency, hence the need for the beneficiaries to get ready for the process," said Lemalasia.

Lemalasia disclosed the intention of the automation was to make the project more efficient, effective and successful arguing all information of the beneficiary would be digitally entered in data bank.

He said the government also intends to shift payments of the senior citizens from Post Bank to Kenya Commercial Bank as part of the changes during the automation process.

The commissioner thus advised the beneficiaries to get ready by producing copies of their personal ID cards alongside those of their caregivers and passport size photographs for processing when the time comes, probably after two weeks.

Lemalasia said the aged would be given personal numbers using biometric system as part of the automation process so as to comply with the current digital era.
