Residents of Magumu Village in Makwa Location, Gatundu North woke up to bizarre news on Thursday following the brutal killing of a 51-year-old woman.
Allegedly, the woman had also been sodomised before she was killed.
The woman's body was discovered by her neighbour (Mama Wanjiru) who had gone to harvest bananas at her farm.
"Her name is Wamenju. So when I saw her in a thicket, I first thought she was asleep and I started calling her name. When she failed to answer, I moved closer and noticed flies coming from her back and I realised she had been raped," said Mama Wanjiru.
She added: "That is the time I screamed and neighbours came and discovered she was dead."
Makwa Chief Michael Kamunyu confirmed the incident saying that she was informed by her assistant.
"This is barbaric and we won't rest till we get the perpetrators of this evil. It is a shame that this happened in a place with civilised people," said Kamunyu.
The woman's body was taken to Bishop Okoye Funeral Home, Thika as investigations to bring the perpetrators to book commence.
