An elderly woman was on Friday arraigned in a Thika court and charged with two accounts of obtaining money in false pretence
Margaret Wambui appeared before resident magistrate E. Mburu and charged with the offences of obtaining money in false pretence and defrauding an unsuspecting client.
The court heard that on different dates between march 2 and march 25 1997 in Ruiru, the accused together with others not before the court received a sum of Sh41,000 from Purity Wairimu as payment for a plot.
The prosecution informed the court that on August 13 2013, the accused received an additional Sh60,000 for settlement of the full payment for the plot and transfer fee from the complainant.
The accused denied the charges and was released on a bond of Sh100,000 and a surety of the same amount or a cash bail ofSh 80,000.
The case was scheduled to be heard on November 12.
