Confirming the incident, Nyamira OCPD Ricoh Ngare said that the body of one Sese Orango was found lying motionlessly in her bed by her grandson Nyaboga Omenta, who had gone to see the granny as usual.

"One of the grandson, Nyaboga Omenta is the one who realised that the grandmother had died after he went to see her in her house saturday afternoon only to find her lying on her bed dead," said Ngare.

Ngare further said that it is suspected that the granny had been strangled by people who wanted to inherit her land forcefully, while promising to bring the culprits to book.

"We are trailing leads to unearth who are the real killers of the deceased because while checking the body we were able to see bruises on her neck and we suspect that her death might have been caused by relatives who wanted to inherit her land by force." added Ngare.

Cases of people being murdered brutally in Nyamira County have been reported to be on the rise and the police machinery have not been able to curb them.
