The residents discovered her body hanging on Monday morning after which they alerted the police officers.

The area assistant Chief Michael Soja has confirmed the incidence stating the reason behind her suicide has not yet been established.

"It's very unfortunate that such an old woman has cut short her life but the police will investigate and put everything into limelight," said Michael.

The residents of Itunduimuni village where the incident occurred have been left in shock stating the woman was in good health in the previous days.

Musyoki Mutua a resident of the village stated that the woman has children who live in different parts of the village as they are married.

"This is unexpected and unfortunate as the deceased lost her husband years ago but has grown up children who take care of her but live far apart with their families," said Mutua.

However, the administrator called upon the residents to avoid taking fast measures into their own hands when faced with hardships but instead seek advice from the community leaders.

The police have picked the body of the elderly woman and transferred her to Medians mortuary as investigations kick start.
