The Luo Council of Elders under the newly elected Chairman, Calvin Ariko have called for calm and tolerance ahead of Cord Leader Raila Odinga’s son Fidel Castro’s burial.
The elders have termed the death of Fidel as sudden and urged the Luo community to maintain peace in order to give the deceased a befitting send off.
Elder Ariko has warned youths against engaging in any form of violent activities during the burial.
Ariko, who was accompanied by another Elder Adhiambo Lomo, said the demise of Fidel is not only a blow to Odinga’s family, but to entire Kenyans.
He further said the Luo community has been befallen by big tragedies in the recent past, including the death of Homa Bay Senator, Otieno Kajwang.
Speaking today after receiving certificate of acknowledgment by the registrar of societies, Ariko said he will strive to unite the Luo community as one.
Calvin Ariko and Nyangaga Akoth, were elected chairman and deputy chairman respectively, while Adhiambo Lomo was elected secretary, Joram Okola vice secretary, Raphael Ndai treasurer and Ben Asiko vice treasurer.
Okoth Deya was also elected as the organizing secretary, and Omolo Kamanyala his deputy.
