National council of elders wants president Uhuru Kenyatta and NASA presidential candidate Raila Odinga to hold talks in a bid to end demonstrations that have been called by opposition leaders seeking to remove IEBC commissioners from office and opposing proposed election law changes ahead of fresh polls on October 26.
Council chairman Phares Rutere, the Isiolo County chairman of Imams and other elders, urged the two to talk to end the protests that adversely affect the economy.
"Demonstrations are scaring investors thus affecting the economy of our country. We call upon the two leaders to engage in talks and find a permanent solution over the small issues that are holding our country hostage," said Rutere.
Rutere added that IEBC should conduct free, fair and credible polls.
"The electoral body should ensure the repeat of presidential polls is done in accordance with the law. Kenyans don't want a sham election", he noted.
