Elders drawn from Kisii County have dismissed claims that Governor James Ongwae’s administration has done less in terms of development.
Led by elder Richard Moiko they termed local MPs and opinion leaders who were going round accusing Ongwae of nepotism and favoritism as desperate political schemers seeking to hound him out of office.
Addressing a press conference at Kisii County hall they called upon all leaders from the county to join him so that he can deliver his promises and stop giving him unnecessary pressure.
Moiko added that the Governor is being targeted by his political nemesis for his humble and transformative style of leadership.
“We know Ongwae as a polite man and who is God fearing who has brought light to Kisii County and we want him to be given humble time in office,” he added.
This comes barely after a number of MPs and Senator Chris Obure continues to accuse the county chief of being aloof and failing to consult them on development projects in the region.
The elders dismissed the MPs as leaders who had sensed defeat in the 2017 General Elections and were seeking for political relevance by meddling in the affairs of the county.
