North Mugirango MP Charles Geni has come under scathing attack from Nyamira Council of elders who demands that he takes prime responsibility over disruption of the funeral of former MP Geoffrey Masanya on Friday.
The funeral ended prematurely when Geni abused mourners who had given him difficult time in addressing them before running away with a church microphone.
But on Monday, the leaders led by Zachary Obura piled pressure on Geni, challenging him to apologise to the bereaved family before coming for cleansing since his conduct was disrespect to ‘elders’.
“As elders, we know what transpired and it’s our view that Geni takes prime responsibility and apologises to the family of the late. His conduct was unbecoming and a disrespect to elders which needs cleansing,” he said.
“He started it all by abusing mourners and eventually running away with a church microphone. It’s our demand that he returns the microphone and also apologizes to the community unconditionally,” he added.
Another elder, Evans Keng’ong’o alleged that two MPs and four another aspiring leaders trafficked goons to the region using more than the school buses to show their political might but singled out Geni as the ring leader.
“We are aware those two MPs and four aspirants trafficked people using school buses to show their political might. They didn’t come for mourning but to politic. We want Geni to start by apologising before we single out his accomplices,” he said.
Efforts to reach the controversial MP for comment were futile since he could neither respond to calls nor text messages.
