According to a section of  Machakos elders who are also members of Mau Mau Veterans Association, they adviced Kalonzo not to take oath as the People's Deputy President.

"We are happy that Kalonzo accepted our advice as elders of not taking an oath as the People’s Deputy President together with Raila Odinga in the event that was held on January 30, at Uhuru Park," Johnstone Kitili said in a statement on Wednesday on behalf of the elders.

Kitili claimed that Kalonzo is only being wasted in the opposition side and he should consider joining Jubilee for the sake of his political future.

"Kalonzo used to do very well in politics in the past. We don't know what came over him he is being misused in the opposition. We are urging him to join Jubilee and work with president Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto," he added.

He said Ukambani region has problems such as drought and water which can only be tackled by the government.
