A council of elders in Tana River has assured Governor Dhadho Godhana of its support amid an election petition challenging his win. The elders, who are drawn from various communities, exuded confidence the county boss has what it takes to transform the county, adding that they are ready to stand with him and support his administration for the next five years. The group called upon the county boss to focus on development matters despite battling with the case filed against him in court. The elders who included Bakari Kiragho (Pokomo), Mr Kesi Wario (Munyoyaya), Ramadhan Divayu Babisani (Iluana) and Abdi Hassan (Wardei) have agreed to work with the new governor to spearhead the county’s development agenda. Speaking on behalf of the elders, Hayu Kesi Wario asked Godhana to take care of the interest of all residents without fear or favour. The elders, however, raised concern over being left out in the Governor’s inauguration speech, adding that there is need for them to be recognized by the new administration.Wario said elders in the county need to remain united for the sake of development.“We know, with elders nothing goes astray. But we are surprised why the elders were left out? So we as elders should be recognized and I’m speaking as an acting chairman for gasa in the county until when we elect leaders,” said Wario, as quoted by Baraka FM.
