After the chilling terrorist attack that took place at the Kapengura Police Station last week, Pokot elders have volunteered to cleanse the station.
The Thursday ordeal saw a police officer turn rogue and kill six of his colleagues leaving several injured including Kapenguria OCS, Vitalis Ochido.
By cleansing the scene, the elders believe that this will help the police in whatever investigations they are conducting.
The elders were granted permission by the county police officers.
“We have asked the county commandant to allow us to perform the rituals to help prevent such incidents from happening again in our county,” said the council of elders’ chairman, John Mwok.
The chair said that this ritual will also help solve the mystery of why exactly the officer turned rogue and how many more rogue officers there were in the station.
The ritual known as ‘Kerilitat’ will involve a castrated billy goat which will be slaughtered at the station which will see the elders curse out the individuals involved in the crime.
“The ceremony should be conducted early in the morning when the gods are not disturbed by incidents of the day so they can accept our prayers and help in unveiling the truth,” Mwok said.
A key note to take down is that women are not allowed to be present during the event neither are they allowed to consume the meat of the dead billy goat. Only male elders will be allowed to indulge.
