Kalenjin elders in Nakuru county hasve revealed plans to conduct a series of prayers to cleanse the Salgaa-Migaa-Sachangwan-Mau Summit stretch along the Nakuru-Eldoret highway.

According to the Daily Nation, the elders are expected to start the prayer rituals next week following numerous road accidents at the area.

Speaking on Tuesday during a meeting at the AGC Sachangwan church, the elders’ chairman Josiah Ruttoh said they are ready to conduct prayers in the area to drive away evil forces causing deaths.

The meeting was attended by Kalenjin elders, elders of the church, Nakuru Deputy Governor Eric Korir and Molo MP Kimani Kuria among other local leaders.

The elders, however, dismissed claims that the mass grave of 2009 oil tanker victims is the cause of accidents in the area.

The accident claimed lives of 130 of which 78 were buried in the mass grave along the stretch.
