Elders from Kapkoros clan of the Kalenjin community together with those from the Agikuyu community have revealed plans to conduct traditional prayers on the Eldoret - Nakuru highway that has witnessed increased road accidents recently.

Led by Samuel Kiragu and the Secretary-General of the Agikuyu council of elders Peter Munga, the elders said they intend to hold the ritual at Sachangwan, a black spot that has claimed many lives through accidents.

Speaking during a traditional meeting at Timboroa Forest, the elders said they will be holding the ritual at the road annually.

They said the current wave of accidents being witnessed on the country's roads is not normal.

"We prayed at Sachangwan four years ago and the accidents stopped until recently. We will pray again this year as we believe whatever is happening is not natural but satanic and we will use our powers to stop it," said Mr. Munga.

"What we'll be doing is to cleanse that road and we shall be conducting a yearly cleansing of all the roads across the country," he added.
