A non-governmental organisation is said to be training elders from 18 counties to preach peace ahead of the 2017 elections.
According to the Star, the Trust for Indigenous, Culture and Health director Maryanne Burris told journalists in Mlolongo town, Machakos County that the elders are from Kuria, Luhya, Kisii, Pokomo, Gikuyu, Luo and the Mijikenda communities.
The training will also be rolled out in all the 47 counties to foster cohesion.
She said they will train the elders to educate young people on the importance of shunning of living peacefully and shunning violence.
“We are leading the way by engaging elders in advocating for national cohesion and integration. If you watch world news, people think there is hatred in Kenya,” said Burris.
